Weekend & After Work Projects

This year we and by we it usually means my husband, have changed the color on the outside of our house. It was a pale yellow with a pale tan on the shutters and awnings. We took a long time discussing what the new colors would be. We have lived here for 10 years and have never really liked the original colors. We chose a medium sage green as the main color and the awnings and shutters are very dark purple. 3/4's of the job is done it is slow going because of work and other family stuff. We have also purchased a 20' twin keel sloop rigged sailboat that we will be refinishing. My husband is also working on a lot of doors and shelves and desks inside the house to help all of us get reorganized. My sister and nephews will be here for about a year and we all got rid of a lot of stuff and have to be efficient in how we store everything. We will also be performing a minor remodel on our one and only bathroom. I would say that is enough projects for now. I try to help with the carpentry and painting but I usually get distracted with housework yuck and cooking yeah.

What project is everyone else working on or wish they had time for?

We have a bathroom project in the works as well. Tons of other small projects going on. When you become a homeowner it never seems to end! I love the painting, decorating, and getting new "stuff" to put around. Jase just wants to get it done as fast as possible with as little fuss as possible.

Jase sounds just like Scott!! We did a total kitchen remodel in March. We knocked out a wall and expanded the kitchen/dining room area and now the living room is opened up into those to areas as well. We had a friend from church who is a contractor do most of the construction and Scott is our resident plumber, electrician, and flooring installer. I LOVE IT.. Two wall ovens, and a prof. grade cooktop. I am really giving it a good work out now that I'm cooking for about 15 harvesters for 3 weeks.

I would love to redo our master bedroom and bath sometime, and our basement is a perpetual project... mostly finished but still needs some work.

Don't even get me started on the yard!!! But for the record... I hate weeds. Especially canadian thistle and kochia!!!!

I'm glad to hear that we're not the only ones who has remodeled! We've remodeled just about every room in our house. Two years ago we added on 1,800 square feet onto our existing home. I designed and drew the autocad plans for the addition (we planned it for five years) and spent over a year in construction. Had contractors build it - it was unnerving having so many strangers walking in and out of the house while we were here. I'd be in the shower and I'd hear someone yell, "Hey lady!" (Because I was home all day, I served as project manager.) We did the electrical, plumbing and finishing work ourselves. You're right, it never seems to end, does it? This year, we finally got all the landscaping done. It was exhausting. They say you've got a strong marriage if you can survive construction and remodeling projects... ; )
