;Just got back this morning at around 12:00.........my mind is a little numb from all the driving and yelling at the kids for 2,000 miles.....trapped in a car.....with no way to beat them unless I stopped....the state fair starts tomorrow if anyone wants to come you can stay with me but you have to take my kids..........heheheh.....oh and by the way........I am expecting child number 4 in Feb 2009........take care everyone!!!!
I can soooo relate to being trapped in a car... We left our house at about 7:30 p.m. last Thursday and the kids hollered for about 100 miles. We got to Billings at about 10:30 p.m. and they woke up with just enough sleep that they didn't want to settle down to go back to sleep once we got them into bed.
Then they were crabby and tired the next day... I seriously about started walking when we hit Townsend. Thankfully they were both so tired out that they slept all the way to Columbus on the way back on Saturday.
Oh and congratulations you blessed and brave souls. I only have 4 kids for 4 months out of the year... the laundry alone is enough to make a person nuts!
the laundry pile is a whole topic for discussion.......I'm in charge of taking the kids to the state fair parade in the morning.....since my wife will be one of the parade judges.....she was humble until tonight when she started telling me to call her honorable judge.........a never ending supply of egos at our house......
I guess I lucked out. We just went to Havre yesterday and my kids were great. My 7 yr old asked "Are we there yet?" only once on the way there. No fights or anything. Give them more miles and things may be different!
Laundry-ugh! My washer started smoking the other day-hopefully its just a bad belt. Its been worked hard with 4 kids!
Traci-you're funny! I about fell off my chair when I read the bikini and tatoo comments.
Here's an idea for long trips... portable dvd player and game boys. Starve the little kiddies of tv and game boys for about a week (or two) before the trip and then once they get settled in the car let them play. They will be so engrossed in their mindless activities they won't even know there are other people in the car! ;-)
Speaking of Sturgis Rally...We're heading there - it is only about a two hour drive for us. We're seeing the "3 Doors Down" and "Finger 11" concerts. Alas, we must use the same cleaner, Traci, as my leather bikini is also at the cleaners! I already have a couple tats...
Those should be some great concerts Becky. I wish I could go to those 2 bands. Athough for some reason I dont make it to many concerts anymore, I must be getting old. Sitting at home and cranking up the stereo seems much easier.
I used to LOVE to go to concerts, and when I lived in Billings it was a little more accessible. Anymore, the crowds, the price of a disgusting keg beer, and the distance make it a little challenging. Sadly, though I really wanted to go to Charley Pride last weekend at the fair... I sound like my parents!!!
I had a chance last week to go see Rick Springfield at Busch Gardens here in Williamsburg. I ended up not making the effort to go. I have turned into a home body. The most recent concerts for my husband and I have been Carbon Leaf, Nickel Creek, and Tommy Emmanuel and to see a couple of different friends play their gigs around town.
traci....send pics of the tattoo....I got my first one last year at Leads, SD during the rally....my wife is still in a little shock.......I figured what the hell.....can't go through life any longer wishing I had one.......now half of my back is one..........if your gonna do it you might as well go big
onnie.....I went to Rick Springfield at our state fair a few years ago....someone nailed him in the crotch with a full beer can........he was not able to finish his song......he cursed and made threats to the guy.......but he refrained from beating on him.....becky.......I would love to hook up with you guys at the rally if it works out......I'm not into the nightly entertainment.......anything going on after 10:00 PM is my bed time.....hehehehe
Ron- Gimme a call - my phone is 307-686-8062 when you plan to be at the rally - we'll just drive over during the day and maybe we could meet for lunch. You could show us around. In all the years we've lived here, we've never been! Sad, isn't it?! Do you camp or hotel? Do you have a bike? Kory- I agree, stereos are much more convenient, no bruised feet from getting stepped on, etc. Honestly, the only reason we're going is because my young 32 yr-old friend is making us!
I'm still working on the exact dates..most likely the 8-10.......and I usually sleep in a tent next to my bike somewhere on the prairie...I have been attending the rally since 1995....my phone number is 701-340-3049....I want to hike to the top of bear butte....that's about my only must do event for me.....oh and swim in bear lake
My little brother Rich will be at Sturgis with his wife Retta. You would never recognize him tho. 275#, tatoos all over his arms, fumanchu, got a mohawk just for Sturgis.
Ron - I will give you a call to work out details. Our calendar is open the dates you mentioned, so I've made a note. My tats are subtle - an ankle bracelet and a toe ring. Lisa/Jason - I see Rhetta from time to time, but hardly ever see your bro. Not sure I would recognize him! I see Jenny Rush more often. There's a lot going on here in town- Sturgis Rally crowd and then mid-August they have a fireworks convention. Thousands of dollars worth of fireworks set off every night for about a week. Pretty fun. You'll have to give us a call when you come to town next time. We'd love to see you and meet your family.
Becky- I will be leaving friday after work...I will try and make it to Sturgis Saturday afternoon...I will have my cell on me so hooking up should not be a problem...I'm so looking forward to seeing you...Bonnie- how can you say I deserve another girl...two is enough! hehehe Traci- do you have your harley ready for the road trip to Sturgis?
Alas, I've never felt the roar of a Harley between my legs... I'd venture to say though that I was sitting on more horsepower last week than 20 Harleys---probably a bigger engine roar too: a 9770 combine with a 36 foot flex header. Fun stuff now!! We are chin deep in harvesting and I was the chief assistant combine operator for a few days last week. Now I've been promoted!?! to head cook and caterer. I actually love the cooking part. It's the hauling to the field and clean up that's not so much fun...
Ron!!! We had a blast! Thanks for inviting us. It was great seeing you. We wished we had brought our motorcycle and tent, though. One night wasn't enough. Glad to hear you got home okay - we were pretty tired Sunday. I enjoyed the beer, but it didn't like me. ; )
